David Thompson, previously Director on the UK and European Sales team at Credit Suisse First Boston, has joined Gartmore as Investment Manager in London.

Mr. Thompson moves to the European Equities team at Gartmore, where he will be working on the AlphaGen Capella hedge fund, reporting to Roger Guy, Senior Investment Manager.

At CSFB Mr Thompson's primary role was in servicing hedge funds and other institutional clients, forging relationships with some of the leading hedge fund companies in London.

Prior to his stint at CSFB, he spent two years at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter as Vice President of UK and European Equity sales.

Gartmore's appointment of Mr Thompson comes shortly after it announced another high profile recruit, Richard Wilson, who joined the company recently as Senior Investment Manager from Deutsche Asset Management.

Background Note: Gartmore Group currently has over US$2.62 billion under management in single manager hedge funds of which US$2.02 billion is in the seven AlphaGen Funds, namely Capella, Hokuto, Cepheus, Avior, Caelum and Volantis.

All the AlphGen equity funds are named after stars or constellations.
