Technology Brief: Barclays Capital selects 4S.Klondike for pairs mining

Barclays Capital has gone live on 4S.Klondike(TM), relationship mining platform for pairs traders developed by San Francisco-based 4th Story, LLC.

4S.Klondike is an institutional-strength tool for traders and portfolio managers to quickly mine pairs opportunities from a large universe of instruments and potential pair combinations. It provides time series analysis of correlation, ratio, regression and other statistics.

By custom tuning 4S.Klondike's ranking and selection systems, traders and portfolio managers can rapidly identify pairs "nuggets" which can then be traded directly or run through a pairs trading model hosted in 4th Story's foundation product, 4S.Yellowstone(TM), Excel or another application.

The product provides full visibility and extensive graphical representation of the calculated statistics to facilitate analysis and works across multiple asset classes and data types.

"We are very pleased to have Barclays Capital, an industry leader with an award winning approach to IT, as a 4S.Klondike client," said Steven Smith, CEO of 4th Story. "The implementation was very straightforward and they have been a pleasure to work with."

4S.Klondike is one of several products offered by 4th Story, a San Francisco-based provider of software that identifies and manages trading opportunities for broker-dealers and institutional investors.

Security pairs identified using 4S.Klondike can be exported seamlessly into 4S.Yellowstone and 4S.Everglades(TM), 4th Story's platforms for developing, testing, optimising and operating complex automated strategies for pairs or single securities.

All products also integrate tightly with third-party products such as Microsoft Excel, facilitating further manipulation of pairs analytics and time series data and allowing trading strategies to be called directly from spreadsheets.
