Capital Management Advisors (CMA) now manages assets worth over USD 1.5 billion following a successful asset-raising period during January and February.
During the first two months of the year, CMA raised a total of EUR 100 million - EUR 18 million for its Global Diversified Fund and EUR 82 million for its Pantheon Fund. The assets were raised from French pension funds and other European institutional investors, through structured products linked to both funds.
The Global Diversified Fund is linked to several structured products created by Societe Generale, while the Pantheon fund is linked to structured products issued by BNP Paribas. Planned offerings with both Societe Generale and BNP Paribas include capital guaranteed products and leveraged products, issued in the form of listed notes.
CMA has previously launched over USD 800 million in structured products, through established platforms with BNP Paribas, Royal Bank of Canada, Macquarie Bank, HSBC and Societe Generale.
The portfolio of the Global Diversified Fund was launched on 1 December 2004 with 37 hedge funds. It has a balanced allocation between equity, event driven and relative value strategies, with a smaller weighting to macro and trading strategies.
Pantheon's portfolio was launched on 1 February 2003 with 28 hedge funds. The main strategies represented in the portfolio are fixed income arbitrage, convertible arbitrage, equity long/short and discretionary global macro.
"Crossing the USD 1.5 billion mark is another important milestone for CMA," said Sabby Mionis, a principal of the Bermuda based group. "Our established research and portfolio management platform ensures we have the capacity to grow our asset base rapidly, while maintaining the highest standards of performance, transparency and client service."
