Former JPMorgan Fleming CEO Mark White has joined Hong Kong-based KGR Capital and will be appointed to the board of the Asian hedge fund specialist.


White has 28 years’ experience in the investment management business, 13 of which were spent in Asia. Most recently he was CEO of JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management (UK) Ltd and was responsible for JPMFAM’s institutional businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Japan.


He was previously CEO of Jardine Fleming Asset Management in Hong Kong and CEO of Chase Fleming Asset Management (UK) Ltd in London. He is a past Chairman of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association. White joined Robert Fleming as a research analyst in 1976 working first in the UK research department and later on the Far East desk in London.


In 1980, he was appointed vice president of Rowe Price-Fleming International based in the US. White transferred back to London in 1982 as a portfolio manager and later joined Fleming Investment Management’s International Portfolios group there. He was appointed to the board of Jardine Fleming Holdings Ltd in Hong Kong in 1985 and headed the International Portfolios Group within JF Asset Management. He was a founder director of Jardine Fleming Unit Trusts Ltd in 1988, and established a number of regional offices including JF Taiwan.


In 1993, White returned to London as Investment Director of Save & Prosper Group Ltd and the Fleming Flagship Funds in Luxembourg.

Background Information: KGR Capital is one of the leading specialists in Asian hedge funds, and is headquartered in Hong Kong. The company was formed in 2002 by John Knox, Nick George and Christopher Rampton, all of whom had worked together for many years in the Asia Pacific region in senior roles at Jardine Fleming and JPMorgan. Its Asia Pacific Absolute Return Fund is a specialist Fund of Asian Hedge Funds aimed at institutional and professional investors, and was launched on August 1st, 2003. Since then the fund has given investors an annualized return of 10.9 per cent, at a volatility of 4.35 per cent.
