New Ogier partner Gray Smith will head up the firm’s London operation providing Cayman Islands legal services to clients from the firm’s European offices.
Smith studied at Oxford University and the Guildford College of Law Guildford, qualifying as a solicitor with Travers Smith Braithwaite in London in 1990. He subsequently spent time with Moore & Blach and Richards Butler in the United Kingdom and Victor Chu & Co in Hong Kong before joining Cayman Islands firm Maples and Calder in 1998.
Smith has worked in Maples and Calder’s Hong Kong, Cayman Islands and London offices and most recently was the partner in charge of investment funds in the firm’s London office and a management committee member. His areas of expertise include investment funds, private equity, fund-related financial products, structured finance and corporate.

He will be leading our existing Europe based Cayman Islands qualified lawyers and administration group, a team which has developed very successfully over the past year through secondments from our Cayman office.”
