Eurex has provided Hedgeweek readers with access to a comprehensive library of educational and training brochures and programs aimed at broadening their understanding of the growing range, features and usage of the derivatives products available to them.

Most of the documents can also be used as preparation material for the Eurex Trader Examination or the Eurex Clearer Test; this is indicated by "TE" or "CT" in the heading. Equity and Equity Index Derivatives - Trading Strategies (TE)
This brochure describes the equity and equity index derivatives traded at Eurex and illustrates their most significant applications. Eurex lists options on European and US stocks as well as futures and options on a variety of international indexes. To enhance readers' understanding of the basic strategies, this brochure describes several fundamental concepts involved in the management of securities portfolios which are important with regard to the various trading strategies listed.

The European Yield Curve ? Trading the Benchmark
The objective of this brochure is to provide potential market users with an overview of how Eurex Bonds, Eurex Repo and the Eurex derivatives exchanges (Eurex Deutschland and Eurex Zurich) operate and together form an integrated triumvirate for the German Government bond market. There are separate brochures covering each of the markets in more depth. In particular, Eurex offers a brochure titled "Interest Rate Derivatives ? Fixed Income Trading Strategies" which provides a better understanding of the fundamental characteristics of fixed income securities and the associated derivative products, as well as indicators used to analyze them. However, this brochure will focus on a general
description of each of the trading platforms and the interrelationships between them.
The brochure "The European Yield Curve ? Trading the Benchmark" is not intended to be a reference book for the European fixed income markets, the size of the markets or their volumes. Instead, it is focused on the investors in these markets, covering how they use the bond, repo and futures/options markets and how Eurex products support them in their investing and trading activities.
Interest Rate Derivatives - Fixed-Income Trading Strategies (TE)
This brochure describes the range of fixed-income derivatives traded at Eurex and illustrates their most significant applications. The brochure covers fixed-income futures as well as options on fixed-income futures. The fundamental features of fixed-income securities (including relevant indicators and parameters) are also explained to facilitate and enhance readers' understanding of the mechanics of fixed-income derivatives.

Trading Calendar (TE)
The Trading Calendar gives an overview of the last trading days, delivery and settlement days, as well as the trading hours, for all Eurex derivatives. Just like the Eurex Products brochure, the trading calendar should be ready at hand on every trading desk.

Risk Based Margining Brochure (CT)
The Risk Based Margining Brochure provides a detailed insight into margin calculations for Eurex products. As a straightforward guideline for traders, investment advisors and back office staff, the RBM brochure contains an introduction to the various types of risk, introduces fundamental concepts and covers the specific calculation details for each product group.
Alongside the Risk Based Margining brochure, Eurex offers the Eurex MarginCalculator for free download. The software allows both private and institutional users to calculate the margin requirements for their position themselves. For instance, investment advisors can use the Eurex MarginCalculator to give their customers an indication of the expected margin requirement. As an alternative to downloading the application, it is also available on CD-ROM, for a nominal fee of EUR 20 (plus postage and packaging). The CD-ROM can be ordered via Deutsche Börse Group's Learning Portal.
Training CDs (TE)
In addition to printed brochures, Eurex also offers interactive futures and options training programs, and the Eurex StrategyMaster. The All About Eurex Futures CD offers a wealth of information on bonds, the EURIBOR reference rate, spread trading and strategies using the major equity index futures. In addition, the All About Eurex Options CD introduces the fundamentals of option pricing. Building on this theoretical framework, the Eurex StrategyMaster CD allows users to calculate theoretical option prices for their own positions in a matter of seconds, using different calculation models. The three cross-referenced CDs are the perfect basis for a targeted learning process. Exercises and tests, assisted by a course manager, provide a comprehensive support framework. Each CD is available at a nominal fee of EUR 20 (plus postage and packaging), or at EUR 50 (plus P&P) for all three. The CDs can be ordered via Deutsche Börse Group's Learning Portal.
Tutorial Workbook (TE)
The main purpose of the Tutorial Workbook is to facilitate and support preparations for the Eurex Trader Examination. The Tutorial is available for free download from Deutsche Börse Group's Learning Portal. In this tutorium-style workbook, the specific contents of the Eurex Trader Examination have been prepared and summarized in a targeted, transparent and comprehensible manner. To facilitate preparations, the workbook follows the content structure of the examination. Following the presentation of contents in each chapter, users are given a series of sample questions from the original curriculum along with an explanation of the corresponding solutions. Numerous tables and diagrams help to visualize complex contexts and structures, while cross-references to other documents used in the preparation help identify the targeted research. The Tutorial Workbook appendix contains a detailed formulary and a list with literature recommended for in-depth studies, plus a glossary with definitions and explanations for all relevant terms.
Quick Reference Guide Trading (TE)
The Quick Reference Guide Trading is an easy-to-use reference to the functional features of the Eurex @X-ceed Trading GUI. Designed specifically for users of the front end trading interface, the guide covers the most important @X-Ceed functions, but also contains information on trading phases and matching algorithms.
Quick Reference Guide Clearing (CT)
The Quick Reference Guide Clearing is an easy-to-use reference to the functional features of the Eurex @X-tract Clearing GUI. Besides covering the most important functions of the Eurex clearing user interface, the guide also explains the fundamentals of Eurex Clearing, such as position keeping. The publication is provided specifically for back office staff using the Eurex Clearing System on a daily basis for the administration and settlement of Eurex positions.
The OptionAlligator is a pocket-sized option pricing calculator. It's a quick and simple tool to determine an option's theoretical value, or the expectations implied in a market price. The OptionAlligator comes at a price of EUR 45 (plus postage and packaging), and can be ordered via the Learning Portal.
