Jersey Finance Chief to head up Equity Trust in the Channel Islands
Jersey Finance Chief Phil Austin is to become the new Managing Director of Equity Trust's Channel Islands operation.
Since 2001 Austin has been the Chief Executive of Jersey Finance, the body representing Jersey's finance industry on a world-wide basis. Prior to this he worked for HSBC for over 20 years both in the City of London and more recently in Jersey where he became Deputy Chief Executive of Offshore Islands for the bank.
Equity Trust, a leading independent trust and fiduciary services group, was first established as an affiliate of a Dutch law firm in 1970. The business has developed through organic growth and a variety of acquisitions and today employs more than 1,000 people in 24 countries around the world. Equity Trust has offices in both Jersey and Guernsey, employing over 250 staff.
Austin, who will take up his new post in May based at the firm's Jersey offices in The Parade, St Helier, will also join the global executive committee headed by the firm's London based Chief Executive, Hugo van Vredenburch.
'We are delighted to have secured the services of one of the leading figures in the offshore financial services industry,' says van Vredenburch. 'Phil's arrival will help cement the progress that we have recently made in the Channel Islands and, critically, will assist us in building a successful business for the future, in a location, which is already one of our most important globally.'
