NY-based FoHF manager Guggenheim Advisors has appointed Pierre-Olivier Masmejean as Managing Director – Europe/European Research Director.

NY-based FoHF manager Guggenheim Advisors has appointed Pierre-Olivier Masmejean as Managing Director – Europe/European Research Director.

Based in London, Pierre-Olivier will be primarily responsible for identifying European based hedge fund managers for Guggenheim Advisors’ fund of hedge funds platform.
 
Until recently, Pierre-Olivier was Managing Director of Edmond de Rothschild Multi Management based in Paris, which was established in 2002 and currently manages circa EUR 2 billion on behalf of a wide range of institutional investors. He was previously Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of New Flag Asset Management Limited, which was founded in 1998 and bought out by Putnam in June 2002.
 
Prior to that, he worked for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette International in London, JP Morgan & Co, in Paris, New York and London and Salomon Brothers International Limited in London. Pierre-Olivier has a Masters in Political Science from the Institut d’etudes politiques de Paris, and an MBA from the Institut Superieur des Affaires, Jouy en Josas, Paris.
 
Commenting on the appointment, Loren Katzovitz, Chairman and Patrick Hughes, President of Guggenheim Advisors (formerly known as Guggenheim Alternative Asset Management) said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Pierre-Olivier on board. His knowledge of the European hedge fund sector will be of huge benefit to us in identifying suitable potential candidates for our platform. In addition, we believe his presence and experience will give a significant lift to our business.’

Background notes: Bank of Ireland Group acquired a majority stake in Guggenheim Advisors in late January 2006. Guggenheim Advisors is a New York based fund of hedge funds manager, which was established in 2002 and today has approx. USD 2.8 billion under management.
 
Bank of Ireland is the largest bank, by total assets, in Ireland and was founded in 1783. The Asset Management Services Division, which is headed by Kevin Dolan, is comprised of Bank of Ireland Asset Management, with circa USD 54 billion under management on behalf of global institutional investors, Iridian Asset Management, a US equity manager with circa USD 10 billion under management and Bank of Ireland Securities Services, with circa USD 110 billion under custody and administration.
