Offshore investment management company Dawnay Day Milroy (DDM) has recorded returns in excess of 5% year-to-date despite the volatility of the markets worldwide.

To date, Channel Islands-based DDM has focused upon providing an absolute return investment service to its clients; preserving wealth and generating attractive levels of return. This strategy has generated returns in excess of 11% per annum for their client portfolios over the last eight years.

In every one of those years DDM has beaten the return on cash deposits and is expected to do the same in 2006. Despite recent slump in investment markets, DDM’s portfolios are presently reflecting year to date returns in excess of 5%, endorsing the firm’s absolute return approach.

‘We are justly proud that in every one of those years we have beaten the return on cash deposits and are confident that 2006 will bring more of the same,’ says Guernsey Director Robert Milroy.

DDM is anticipating another successful year and has opened an office in Jersey to compliment its existing office in Guernsey targeting key intermediaries and private clients in both islands and worldwide.

The opening of the Jersey office signals a clear commitment by the company to the future of the Channel Islands as a leading offshore region and makes the firm one of the largest in the islands.

Robert Milroy, Paul Meader and Alison Brooks in Guernsey, are joined in Jersey by highly qualified investment managers David le Cornu, Scott Kelly and St John Burke. Each brings a wealth of investment experience to the firm, and Milroy believes DDM offers an opportunity for clients to move away from the big institutional approach to wealth management.

‘Our size and attitude means that we are not bound by the confines of the institutional approach,’ he says. ‘It gives us a chance to provide the level of service that clients deserve demonstrating the agility, dynamism and results that, sadly, are rarely delivered by large organisations.’

Kelly who will head up the Jersey business and feels that there is potential to expand the market.

‘Dawnay Day provides both the track record and the ability to proactively manage portfolios while providing a personal relationship that makes us distinct from others,’ he says. ‘Many firms talk absolute return but how many have delivered?’
