Ogier claimed the top spot at the 2006 Alpha magazine’s second annual Hedge Funds Service Providers Awards held on 12 September 2006 in New York City.

The award was the result of an extensive client research survey, asking hedge fund managers to rate the level of service they received in various categories by their service providers. Ogier took the number one position in ‘Hedge Fund Expertise’ and ‘Regulatory and Compliance’, in support of and in addition to the overall title of ‘Top Offshore Law Firm’.

Alpha magazine collected votes from over 1,000 hedge fund managers who rated the quality of service by their providers of legal, administration, prime brokerage and audit services. The service elements were broken down into broad categories with more specific sub-sets.  Respondents also rated the importance of each service attribute, forming the basis of the calculation that put Ogier at the top of the list. Hedge fund and regulatory/compliance expertise were those categories deemed most important by the fund managers polled in this survey.

‘This award is particularly important to us because it is based on a survey of industry and feedback from our clients – we are absolutely delighted to receive it,’ commented James Bergstrom, a partner in the Cayman office, who received the award on behalf of the investment funds team. Fellow partner, Peter Cockhill, added: ‘We have a highly qualified team of attorneys and support staff who demonstrate every day their legal expertise and their commercial-minded approach and this award really is for them.’

Ogier offers advice to the investment funds industry through their offices in Cayman, Jersey, Guernsey and London with the majority of the team practicing Cayman Islands law.
