Hedge fund third-party marketing firm Agecroft Partners has hired James B Hart as a director with responsibilities including overseeing due diligence on potential hedge funds the firm may represent and introducing the firm’s hedge fund clients to large institutional investors located within the US.

Hart spent the past six years as a senior research analyst and member of the investment committee at a fund of hedge funds management firm, where he made asset allocation decisions and performed due diligence on hundreds of managers across most hedge fund strategies.

His role included on-site visits, reference and background checks, service provider checks, monthly manager conference calls, and analytical comparison using statistical software. Previously he spent six years as a mortgage banking specialist and competed on the Nike Golf Tour.

‘Our business model is to introduce hedge funds in a consultative manner to large institutional investors,’ says Agecroft Partners managing member Don Steinbrugge. ‘It is imperative that the members of our firm are highly technically competent. Jim’s CFA background and his experience analysing hundreds of hedge funds across multiple strategies will allow him to have credibility in the large institutional marketplace we are targeting.’

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Agecroft Partners is a consulting and third-party marketing firm for hedge funds founded recently by Steinbrugge, a former head of institutional sales for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and founding principal of hedge fund firm Andor Capital Management.
