Private Advisors has appointed Jens Bisgaard-Frantzen as Chief Executive Officer of Private Advisors UK Limited as the firm looks to build its global private equity offering.

Bisgaard-Frantzen most recently served as the CEO and Managing Partner of ATP Private Equity Partners, the private equity arm of ATP, Denmark’s largest institutional investor with investments of approximately USD65 billion.  He founded ATP Private Equity Partners in 2001 and managed it since inception, committing approximately US$4.8 billion to private equity partnerships, secondary positions and co-investment opportunities.

Louis W Moelchert Jr., Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Private Advisors LLC, said: ‘We’re delighted we have attracted Jens to the firm.  We’ve analyzed the case for a more diversified, global private equity capability for a very long time.  Our plans centered around hiring a high caliber individual with strong global investment experience and relationships to lead this business.  We were actively speaking to potential candidates for over a year, but Jens was an instinctive fit for the firm.

‘Jens brings tremendous private equity investment expertise to Private Advisors, and has an excellent reputation and investment track record managing public pension assets.  He successfully built a top performing investment-driven organization and team at ATP Private Equity.  We were especially impressed by his disciplined approach to investment sourcing and due diligence, a cornerstone of Private Advisors’ investment process.

‘Jens’ investment and operational experience, international perspective and extensive industry relationships, via our new base in London, will substantially strengthen the firm’s global investment capability for our clients.’

Commenting on his new role Bisgaard-Frantzen said: ‘Private Advisors has deep experience and a successful track record across the alternative investment market.  Lou has successfully managed alternative investment strategies for over 25 years through a variety of market environments and his track record has stood the test of time.  Private Advisors’ expertise in managing both private equity and hedge fund strategies is compelling and adds substantial value for our clients.

‘It was very important for me to partner with a firm which shares my investment philosophy in being fundamentally-driven, value-oriented, and contrarian in approach.  From my extensive discussions with the team, it was clear that we share these values.  In addition, we both believe it is crucial for investment managers to demonstrate their commitment to maximizing long-term returns by personally aligning their own interests with those of their clients.’

In a separate development, Basil L ‘Beau’ Hurst has also joined Private Advisors LLC as Partner with responsibility for investor relations and product development outside North America.  He will work closely with Bisgaard-Frantzen to build out the London office for Private Advisors.  The firm plans to hire additional professionals to build the firm’s global private equity investment team.
