Havens Advisors, LLC, a New York-based hedge fund manager with approximately USD375 million under management, has added two executives to its experienced and well-established money management team. Allison Bellini joins the firm as managing director and portfolio manager on the high-yield/special situations debt team, and Michael Burcher as vice president and equities trader.  The pair brings a combined 30 years of financial experience to the firm.

‘We have doubled our assets under management over the past year and are scaling our team to match that growth as well as to handle the investment opportunities that we see daily,’ says Nancy Havens, president and portfolio manager, Havens Advisors.  ‘Allison and Michael will play key roles at the firm as we continue to grow.’

Ms Bellini is responsible for pursuing trading opportunities on the debt side of Havens Advisors’ portfolio. She joins the firm from CRT Capital Group LLC, where she spent 11 years as senior vice president, principal, and distressed/high-yield/special situations debt analyst covering a wide variety of industries.

Ms Bellini began her career in 1987 at Chemical Bank, where she spent more than five years in the private banking division, serving as account/lending officer to high net worth individuals and institutions such as United Parcel Service.  Following her time there, she joined Smith Barney Inc. as an associate in equity research, focused on specialty retail.  Ms. Bellini holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Communications from Denison University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Mr. Burcher brings ten years experience to Havens Advisors. He began his financial career in 1997 at Jack White & Company as a trader of stocks, options, mutual funds, commodities and U.S. Treasuries for the broker/dealer’s retail clients.

In 1998, Mr Burcher joined Jeffries & Co. as a trading assistant responsible for managing the trade settlement team.  A year later he became an institutional equity position trader, executing proprietary orders using the firm’s capital, managing significant order flow, and training junior traders.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
