AIS Fund Administration, a fund administrator and provider of outsourced middle and back office functions to hedge funds and funds of funds, has appointed Ben Wiseman as European director of operations based in the firm’s London office.
Wiseman, a qualified chartered accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, joins AIS from JPMorgan, where he was a manager in the accounting and control hedge fund services group.
As director of operations, he will spearhead efforts to bring the same high quality of service to Europe that won AIS the overall top ranking in last year’s Global Custodian fund administration survey.
‘Ben’s experience in middle office functions and fund accounting for fixed income funds is exactly what we were looking for,’ says AIS president Paul Chain. ‘His experience goes hand in hand with our commitment to service European clients out of London, offering them daily operational support across all asset classes and derivatives.

This is the latest addition to AIS’s European presence, following the arrival of Scott Syracuse last autumn as head of European sales after spending more than seven years at Bloomberg in sales of portfolio order management systems.
AIS opened its London offices last year in order to service European clients. ‘We believe it critical to our service model to be close to our clients,’ Chain says. ‘This provides a more personal and timely response than competitors who outsource operations to India.’
With offices in New Jersey, London, Los Angeles and the Cayman Islands, AIS offers outsourced middle and back office services as well as fund administration to hedge funds and fund of funds, including daily reconciliation of trades, positions and cash. Managers have access to more than 150 daily reports through AISdirect including attribution, financial accounting, operational and daily NAV.
