Pamplona Capital names Langlade-Demoyen to head fund of funds business
Pamplona Capital Management has announced the appointment of Francois Langlade-Demoyen as a partner and chief investment officer of Pamplona's fund of hedge funds business as part of the absorption of his firm, Langlade Capital.
Langlade-Demoyen has had a long career in the financial industry having been chief investment officer of Langlade Capital, a European equity long/short manager, as well as a co-founder of Buttonwood Capital Partners in 1999. He was a managing director at CSFB in charge of European equity strategy and value-based analysis between 1994 and 1999.
He previously held various positions including head of equities for CSFB in France and as an analyst and strategist for Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. He will report to Nick Gordon Smith, managing partner of Pamplona's fund of hedge funds business.
Pamplona runs three separate Irish and Luxembourg-listed fund of hedge funds: a global emerging markets fund of funds, a low-volatility, multi-strategy fund and a newly-launched real estate and infrastructure fund.
Next month former Langlade partner Lars Titland will join Pamplona's single-strategy hedge fund platform as a partner and managing director. He will be responsible for the management of the Pamplona Energy and Transportation Global Fund formerly managed by Langlade Capital.
Titland, who was responsible for the portfolio management of the Energy and Transportation fund at Langlade, previously worked in corporate finance for DVB Bank, MNB Maizels/Nordea, and CSFB, specialising in the Nordic region with a focus on energy, transportation and industrial companies.
Meanwhile, Pamplona has opened an office in Switzerland, Pamplona Capital Management (Zug), which will be responsible for the distribution of Pamplona's funds of hedge funds and single strategy hedge funds. The office is managed by Werner Schuenemann, who was recently appointed head of sales and business development. Pamplona says it plans to expand its presence in Zug over the coming 12 months as additional funds are launched.
Established in March 2005, Pamplona is an independent alternative asset manager specialising in private equity, funds of hedge funds and single-strategy hedge funds. The firm has a staff of more than 30 professionals at offices in London, Tel Aviv and Zug and has more than USD3.5bn in assets under management.
