SEI has been selected by Graham Capital Management to provide operations outsourcing services for the firm’s multi-billion dollar, multistrategy hedge fund complex, which includes hedge funds, managed accounts and proprietary vehicles. The deal marks Graham’s move toward a daily reporting environment.

Under the deal, SEI will provide a complete operational outsourcing model including fund accounting, administration, reporting and shareholder services. The group says it was selected following an extensive search involving some of the industry’s leading outsourcing providers in the industry thanks to its expertise in servicing large clients, robust technology platform and creation of a daily hedge fund servicing environment.

‘When we made the decision to move to a daily reporting environment, SEI was the right partner for us,’ says Graham Capital Management chief executive Paul Sedlack. ‘They have the top-tier processes and systems that will allow us to report information to our shareholders on a daily basis and ultimately enhance the overall shareholder experience.’

Steve Meyer, an executive vice-president and head of SEI’s investment manager services division, says: ‘With more institutional dollars and more demanding investors in the space, many larger hedge funds are requiring a daily reporting model.

‘In today’s hyper-competitive landscape, daily reporting can be a significant competitive advantage and we’ve proven that we have the technology and the processes to operate seamlessly in that environment. A firm of Graham’s size, complexity and servicing requirements is unique, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to help them raise the bar for their shareholder service.’

Graham Capital Management has around 180 employees and manages assets of some USD5bn in wide range of discretionary and quantitative alternative investment styles, including macro, relative value and equity long/short, and arbitrage strategies trading in global fixed income, equity, foreign currency and futures markets.

SEI’s investment manager services division offers total operations outsourcing solutions to providers of mutual funds, hedge and private equity funds, separately managed accounts and institutional client services. SEI is a global provider of outsourced asset management, investment processing and investment operations solutions to corporations, financial institutions, financial advisors and affluent families. At the end of September, the group and its affiliates administered USD423bn in mutual fund and pooled assets and managed USD202bn through more than 20 offices in a dozen countries.
