Salus Alpha launches alternative Ucits III funds based on Vienna-listed indices

Salus Alpha, which last year launched the first Ucits III-compliant long/short equity fund, Salus Alpha Equity Hedged, has introduced two further funds designed to enable private investors to access alternative investment strategies through Ucits III structures that can be freely sold across borders within the European Economic Area.

The Salus Alpha Event Driven fund invests into special situations, such the current sub-prime crisis, to produce returns for investors. The fund invests in the Event Driven Index listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange, which has averaged annual performance of around 11 per cent with volatility of 4 per cent since its launch. The index comprises up to 20 event-driven managers.

The Salus Alpha Managed Futures fund offers private investors access to long/short commodity strategies and systematic traders. The fund invests in the Managed Futures Index listed on the Vienna exchange, which has delivered performance averaging 15 per cent with volatility of 9 per cent and includes up to 20 managed futures traders.

The subscription periods for the Salus Alpha Event Driven and Salus Alpha Managed Futures funds are up to February 28, with the funds’ launch scheduled for the following day.
