Allan M. Kline, who recently retired as vice-president and chief financial officer of Skyworks Solutions, is returning to work as director of business development with Worcester, Massachusetts-based hedge fund investment advisory firm Cutler Capital Management.

A long-time client of Cutler Capital, which also has an office in Clearwater, Florida, Kline says his experience of the company, as well as the many contacts he made during his career as a chief financial officer of several companies in the region, will help him attract investors.

Cutler Capital’s hedge funds follow a growth and income strategy, investing in convertible securities, real estate investment trusts and dividend-paying stocks. Kline has first-hand knowledge of convertible securities, having used them to raise capital while at Skyworks.

‘The key to success is to believe in what you’re selling,’ Kline says. ‘As a long-time client, I believe in Cutler Capital and its investment style, so I welcomed the opportunity to join the company.’

He was previously chief financial officer of FiberMark in Brattleboro, Vermont, Acterna Corporation in Burlington, Massachusetts, and CrossComm in Marlboro, also in Massachusetts. He began his career in 1969 at Arthur Young, where he was a partner for six years.

‘It is a great validation of our investment style to have a financial professional of Allan’s calibre join Cutler Capital,’ says president David Grenier. Cutler manages assets totalling more than USD245m million in two hedge funds, the Cutler Investment Fund, and the Cutler Income and Growth Fund I, as well as individual portfolios, on behalf of high net worth investors, charitable foundations and other non-profit organisations.
