The Alternative Investment Management Association has appointed Sean Simon of Ivy Asset Management as the new Aima Council representative of its US members and as a member of the association’s board of directors.

Since January 2006 Simon has been co-president of Ivy Asset Management, an alternative funds of funds manager with more than USD15bn assets under management. He is responsible for strategic planning and the management of the firm’s overall business and is an advisory member of its investment committee.

As a member of the Managed Funds Association’s board of directors, Simon’s presence on both governing bodies will reinforce the recently-announced collaboration between the two hedge fund industry organisations.

‘We are delighted to welcome Mr Simon to this role representing the interests of our US members,’ says Aima chief executive Florence Lombard. ‘As well as benefiting from Mr Simon’s strategic input at board level, his unique position within both associations will enhance the development of a closer working relationship with the MFA.

‘Mr Simon is an ideal figure to take on this position because of his central position in the industry and we are excited about the level of expertise and experience that he will bring to our activities.’
