London-based investment management consultancy Laven Partners has advised Redtower Asset Management on the launch of its new currency fund, the Redtower Global Macro Fund.

The fund aims to exploit global macro themes by seeking relative value in currency relationships through investment in currency pairs. Laven Partners advised on the FSA authorisation of both asset manager and fund.

The fund will be managed by Redtower chairman Gerry Celaya, who previously held senior technical analysis roles at American Express Bank, Bank of America and Standard & Poor’s MMS International, a provider of real time fixed-income and foreign exchange commentary and analysis, and Jane Foley, a former director of foreign exchange research at Barclays Capital and portfolio manager at Saudi American Bank.

‘Our global mandate, extensive research and risk management processes will enable us to exploit a wide range of macro-economic and geopolitical themes for the benefit of our investors,’ Celaya says.

‘To make it possible for us to profit from the fastest-growing economies we will be able to invest up to 80 per cent of the portfolio in emerging market currencies. Now is a particularly exciting time for us to launch the fund as recent market turmoil has created a wealth of investment opportunities.’

Jérôme de Lavenère Lussan, managing partner of Laven Partners, says: ‘We have worked in close partnership with Redtower to facilitate a swift FSA authorisation and fund set-up. Our extensive experience in the hedge fund arena means we can offer our clients practical advice on all aspects of launching an investment company or fund, enabling their team to focus on raising assets and their fund’s strategy.’

Laven Partners is an investment management group offering consultancy services, including fund structuring, tax, legal and compliance as well as distribution and advisory services, to fund managers and investors.

Redtower Asset Management has been set up to utilise the research skills of financial data provider Redtower, which was established in 1997 to provide financial information and statistics to professionals in the foreign exchange market. Since 2001 the firm has offered analysis on the equity, fixed income, money market, commodity and emerging markets and provided white-label research solutions to financial institutions.
