Yorkville Advisors, a private investment firm that specialises in structured finance and direct investments, has expanded its operations to Athens and Tokyo through a joint venture with Axia Ventures Group that will focus on identifying investment opportunities for Yorkville in Greece and Japan.

‘We are pleased to formalize our relationship with Axia and further expand our global footprint,’ says Mark Angelo, founder of Yorkville Advisors. ‘Since January 2008, approximately 47 per cent of our investments have been made in non-US companies, and we see that trend continuing.’

Troy Rillo, a senior managing director at the firm, adds: ‘Axia has valuable contacts and expertise in these markets, and we look forward to supporting leading and innovative companies to take them to the next level.’

Antonios Achilleoudis, a principal at Axia, says: ‘We look forward to identifying investment opportunities for Yorkville, and there is definitely a strong demand for the unique and flexible financing solutions they offer.’

Axia Ventures Group is an independent investment banking boutique and financial services firm specialising in corporate finance and alternative asset management. Axia and its affiliates have subsidiaries or branches in New York, London, Athens, Cyprus and Tokyo.

Founded in 2001 with headquarters in Jersey City, Yorkville is the investment manager of YA Global Investments, a private investment firm that specialises in structured finance and direct investments. The firm has offices in San Diego, and Jupiter, Florida and joint ventures in Milan and Tel Aviv as well as the new venture with Axia.
