Madrid-based Próxima Alfa Investments has announced the recruitment of Igor Ojereliev from Deutsche Bank with a view to launching the Global Emerging Markets Fund in the near future.

At Deutsche Bank, Ojereliev was part of the principal strategies group. Previously he was a manager for the RAB Emerging Markets Debt Fund.

‘We are clearly committed to emerging markets and we are delighted to welcome Igor Ojereliev at Próxima,’ says chief executive Dídac Artés. ‘I am sure that his strong reputation and track record will bring up significant added value to our professional team.’

Says Ojereliev: ‘Próxima has one of the best positioned platforms to take advantage of the continuing institutionalisation of the hedge fund marketplace due to its philosophy, shareholder commitment and investment in infrastructure.’

Próxima, created through an alliance between BBVA and Vega, combines the scale and leadership of BBVA, one of Spain’s largest banks, with the alternative investment management experience of Vega, and has offices in Madrid, London and Dublin.
