Offshore financial centres are liable to come under increasing pressure from tax authorities worldwide in the wake of the US Senate investigation into alleged tax evasion involving UBS and Liechtenstein’s LGT. Group chairman Stephen Platt and partner David Wilson of law firm BakerPlatt, which has offices in Jersey and London, warn that other financial institutions with offshore operations and the jurisdictions that they use may find themselves in the firing line.
