WAY Fund Managers Limited has been appointed the new Authorised Corporate Director (ACD) for two existing funds managed by Hasley Investment Management LLP.

The funds, S&W Hasley Multi-Strategy Fund and the S&W Hasley Diversifier Fund will be transferred today (1 September 2008) and will be re-branded  as Elite Hasley Multi-Strategy Portfolio and Elite Hasley Diversifier Portfolio. The combined value of the funds is around GBP 24m.

David Pook, WAY Fund Managers’ Chief Executive, says, “We are delighted to be appointed ACD for these successful funds, which will further broaden our range of offerings to the IFA community and reinforce the Elite arm as a fast-growing third party manager.”

Roderick Collins of Andover, Hants-based Hasley is the day-to-day Investment Manager of the portfolios, which have been specifically designed to provide intermediaries with a more effective investment solution for their clients than the traditional combination of cash, bonds, equities and property.

At the low risk end of the scale is the Diversifier Portfolio, which invests in assets such as collectives of hedge funds, onshore absolute return products and portfolios of life policies.

“The Diversifier Portfolio could lend itself to a SIPP in drawdown mode, for example, as it provides an alternative to fixed income without duration risk,” says Collins.

“In the middle of the risk spectrum the Hasley Multi-Strategy Portfolio provides a total investment solution over the medium term. Somewhat over 40 per cent of the portfolio consists of equity investment highly diversified both geographically and by sector.”

“The inherent volatility of the equities is mitigated by an approximately equal weighting to absolute return assets similar to those held in the Diversifier Portfolio. The final element of the Multi-Strategy Portfolio includes funds investing in private equity, global index-linked bonds and syndicated credits selling at a discount,” says Collins.

He adds,”A third ‘Best Ideas Portfolio’ of which Way will also be ACD will be launched by Hasley in November. It is likely to contain some somewhat more aggressive and esoteric investments such as quoted hedge funds and other absolute return products, some high conviction equities and such asset classes as wine and art.”

Incorporated in 1996, The WAY Group is a privately owned financial services group. The founders of the company include ex-independent financial advisers who specialised in offering portfolio management services to private and corporate investors.

They have combined their experience and skills with a number of ex-institutional fund managers to design, construct, oversee and market, portfolio solutions to the IFA marketplace.
