C.P. Eaton Partners expands European team with three London hires

Alternative investment placement firm C.P. Eaton Partners has appointed Franklyn D. Chang, who has already been working for the firm in Connecticut, Christopher J.

Alternative investment placement firm C.P. Eaton Partners has appointed Franklyn D. Chang, who has already been working for the firm in Connecticut, Christopher J. Pietersen and Stephanie J. Brendel to strengthen its London office.

‘The European markets are of significant importance to the firm and we are delighted to welcome Frank, Chris and Stephanie to the London office,’ says Anne Gales, head of C.P. Eaton Partners’ European office.

‘Frank will be a tremendous asset on the hedge fund side and both Chris and Stephanie have strong capital raising expertise in private equity, infrastructure and real estate. This move solidifies our position as a truly global firm with the capacity to raise capital for alternative fund managers around the world.’

Chang, who will lead the firm’s hedge fund activities in Europe, has 12 years of institutional investment marketing experience, including four years at C.P. Eaton’s headquarters in Rowayton.

He was previously a managing director at Farrell Marsh, originating and distributing alternative investment funds including buyout, venture capital, international, real estate, mezzanine, special situations and hedge funds. Earlier he focused on structuring and distributing leveraged loans for middle-market issuers within Bank of America’s syndicated finance operations.

Pietersen, who joins as a vice-president, was an associate director in the private equity funds group at UBS Investment Bank in New York, where he focused on origination, due diligence and placement of third party private equity and infrastructure products globally.

Earlier he focused on principal growth equity and buyout transactions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for General Atlantic in London, having begun his career in corporate finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the UK.

Brendel previously played a key role in project management and origination relating to coverage of European general partners for Bear Stearns’ private funds group. Earlier she was a senior analyst at MVision Private Equity Advisers in London, following a spell as an international marketing and research analyst at Far Hills Group in New York. She began her career in private banking with JP Morgan Chase.

Founded in 1983 and with offices in North America, Europe and Asia, C.P. Eaton Partners has raised a total of more than USD30bn in capital for 54 funds. The firm is currently in the market with 11 funds in various asset classes including core capital assets, urban real estate development, renewable energy, Western European real estate, distressed debt, global infrastructure, structured equity and activist hedge funds as well as a fund of hedge funds.
