RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has announced the appointment of Tim Harvey as a director and head of cash equities trading in its London office.

Harvey joins RBC Capital Markets from Credit Suisse, where he worked for over 11 years, most recently as managing director and head of European marketing to hedge funds and institutions. Harvey was previously at DLJ London and Wood Gundy.

Stephen Foss, managing director and head of European equities at RBC Capital Markets, says: ‘Tim’s arrival in our European team demonstrates RBC’s commitment to building out its European cash equities business and to growing its capital markets business by continuing to hire top talent.’

Harvey will work closely with RBC’s global equities and global prime services businesses, including the 11 strong London team hired from Bear Stearns in September 2008, whose remit is to bolster the proactive build-out of RBC’s US cash equities business.
