Aladdin Capital has appointed Laura Fazio, Nan Logan and Jim Irvin to its newly created telecommunications, media and technology business.

Fazio (pictured) and the team will provide advisory and capital raising services for telecom, media and technology firms as well as opportunistically invest junior capital across the industry sector.

The team will be based in Aladdin’s Stamford, Connecticut headquarters and report directly to Neal Neilinger, vice-chairman and chief investment officer of Aladdin.

Neilinger says: ‘The investment-banking boutique model, the way it was run in the late 80s and early 90s before the reliance on leverage, will afford its principals and investors the best earnings multiple in the next three to five years. Bringing Laura, Nan and Jim on board not only broadens our offering but further strengthens the depth of our talent within the firm.’

Fazio joins Aladdin as managing director and head of the advisory and capital markets practice for the global telecom, media and technology sector. Prior to joining Aladdin, Fazio was the global head of media and entertainment structured finance at Deutsche Bank Securities until 2008. From 1998-2007, Fazio headed Dresdner Kleinwort’s media and entertainment practice, where she advised on and arranged over USD5bn in capital for nine media transactions since 2004.

Logan joins Aladdin Capital as a managing director in the global telecom, media and technology advisory and capital markets business. Prior to joining Aladdin, Logan was a director of media and entertainment structured finance at Deutsche Bank Securities where she was responsible for originating, structuring and syndicating filmed entertainment transactions. Previous positions have included director of media investment banking at Dresdner Kleinwort and head of credit portfolio management at ABN Amro Bank.

Irvin joins Aladdin Capital Management in April 2009 as a director in the global telecom, media and technology advisory and capital markets business. Irvin joins from the London office of the entertainment industry team of JP Morgan Securities where he most recently spearheaded the investment banking origination and execution efforts of the firm to the European marketplace. He joined JP Morgan in 2004 from KPMG’s mergers and acquisitions division.
