New Earth Solutions Group, the UK waste treatment and resource recovery company, has announced the intended launch of the New Earth Recycling and Renewable Energy Sub-Fund, as part of The Eclipse Investment Fund Protected Cell Company for specialist investors.
The New Earth Sub-Fund will invest directly in NES’s waste treatment facilities and in the renewable energy projects of NES’s sister company New Earth Energy.
It is intended that the New Earth Sub-Fund will be quoted on the Channel Islands Stock Exchange and managed by The Premier Group (Isle of Man), the specialist investment fund provider.
Adrian Jones, finance director at NES, says: "We are launching the New Earth Sub-Fund in response to demand from institutional investors keen to build their exposure to the waste and renewable energy sectors. Along with existing facilities, NES and its sister company NEE have a substantial pipeline of projects to finance. The New Earth Sub-Fund will invest in these projects, thus helping to ensure the development and growth of our network of facilities throughout the UK."
The minimum investment in the New Earth Sub-Fund will be GBP250,000. Its first dealing date is anticipated to be 1 June 2009.
NES and Premier launched a separate fund last year, the New Earth Solutions Recycling Facilities Investment Sub-Fund, for experienced investors. The minimum investment in the Premier New Earth Sub-Fund is GBP10,000 or GBP5,000 via an international life office or a Sipp. It now has over GBP10m under management. The New Earth Sub-Fund and the Premier New Earth Sub-Fund will invest in the same project pipeline.
NES currently has two 50,000 tonne waste facilities operating in Dorset and Kent and recently acquired an in-vessel composting facility in Gloucestershire from Bioganix, which went into administration in February. The company was also granted planning permission to build a new plant in Avonmouth, Bristol, and expects to begin construction of a new plant in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, soon. NES is supported by waste management contracts with the councils of Bournemouth, Bristol, Kent, Dorset, Essex, Gloucestershire and Leicestershire.
New Earth Energy, a sister company of NES, was launched in September 2008. It is developing a series of waste to energy projects to treat, and recover energy from, a range of municipal and commercial wastes. It recently announced its first project, Mersey Green Solution, with Biossence, the UK arm of European environmental investors Network Economy. This joint venture includes the development of a 400,000 tonnes per annum waste to energy facility in Merseyside, which already has planning consent.
