Butterfield Fulcrum, an independent administrator for the alternative investment industry, has appointed industry veteran T. Andrew Smith as the firm's global head of business development and marketing.
Smith brings extensive experience in fund services and a strong track record of global institutional sales growth, business development, and relationship management.
In this position, he will lead the firm's global sales, business development, and marketing efforts as it expands its services to alternative asset managers and their clients.
He will be based in the company's New York office, and will oversee Butterfield Fulcrum's teams in Europe, Asia and North America.
'We believe that there are tremendous opportunities globally to meet the new demands for operational and technological platforms that can enhance the level of reporting, accounting and valuation for alternative asset managers and their clients,' says Akshaya Bhargava, chief executive of Butterfield Fulcrum. 'Andrew brings a wealth of sales and business development experience in global fund services and is the ideal person to lead our efforts in delivering these services. We are excited to have him join the team.'
'To maintain and grow assets, alternative asset managers will need to demonstrate that their systems, controls and governance are effective. With our full service offering and global operating model, Butterfield Fulcrum is well positioned to meet these requirements,' says Smith. 'I am looking forward to furthering our global business development efforts and advancing the next generation of Butterfield Fulcrum's fund administration services. This is an important juncture, not only for Butterfield Fulcrum, but for the alternative investment industry as a whole.'
