Net redemptions were USD25bn, down from a monthly average of USD65bn for the preceding six months, bringing industry assets to USD1.30trn.
Hedge funds are up 3.9 per cent year-to-date, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 6.9 per cent as at end April.
The Eurekahedge alternative databases now cover 20,400 funds, representing USD4.5trn in assets.
