The new office will be headed by Shoham Cohen who has worked in Asia for almost eight years. 
 
Cohen reports to Corey Ribotsky, NIR managing member and head portfolio manager, and will be responsible for business development in the region.
 
‘Shoham has a proven track-record of growing businesses in Asia and we are confident he will do the same for us,’ says Ribotsky. ‘His extensive local knowledge will be integral as we expand our presence.’
 
‘There are numerous opportunities to replicate what NIR has done so successfully in the U.S. and the investment community is looking for alternative investments that are truly non-correlated and provide consistent absolute returns,’ adds Cohen.
 
Cohen will help NIR identify strategic investment partners throughout Asia, particularly in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan.
 
Prior to joining NIR, Cohen was mnaging director at the Superfund Group, a managed futures manager, responsible for business development and expansion in Asia. During his time there, he established headquarters in Hong Kong and also opened offices in Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney.
 
Prior to Superfund he was director of Innovation Fund, a fund-of-hedge fund based in the Cayman Islands. Prior to Innovation, he founded ESC Financial Services in 2005, an incubation and structuring firm that supported emerging fund managers in Asia.
