Commissioner Walt Lukken is resigning from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, effective 10 July 2009.

Lukken has served as commissioner since August 2002 and served as acting chairman from June 2007 to January 2009.

Lukken says: ‘It has been an honor to serve as both commissioner and acting chairman of the CFTC over the last seven years and particularly during this tumultuous and challenging period for our nation’s economy. I am proud of the Commission’s continuing work to bring greater transparency, enhanced enforcement and smarter oversight to our markets.’

Lukken is departing the CFTC to work for NYSE Euronext as senior vice president, global market structure, in its office of general counsel.
