Veritas Asset Management has appointed Raymond Foo as a senior analyst to strengthen its Asia team.
Based in Hong Kong, where Veritas is also establishing a local operation, Foo will work closely with Ezra Sun who spearheads the firm’s suite of Asia long only and long/short funds.
Foo was formerly Brevan Howard Asset Management’s chief Asian strategist, and was portfolio manager on the firm’s Emerging Market Strategies Fund.
Prior to this, Foo was head of economics and strategy research at BNP Paribas Peregrine in Hong Kong where he was responsible for identifying key macro trends and turning points in markets and managing a team of strategists and economists spread across Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing.
Foo will work with Ezra on the Veritas Asian Fund and the Real Return Asian Fund. The Veritas Asian Fund, which launched in October 2004, and re-opened to investors in late 2008, is a Ucits III fund that has returned 102.3 per cent since inception. The long/short equity Real Return Asian Fund will reach its five-year milestone in September this year. Since launch, the fund has returned 103.5 per cent.
