Prisma Capital Partners has appointed John Stimpson as one of the managing directors in its marketing group, bringing the senior members of that team to four people.

He will focus on business development and consulting relations in the pension community.

"We are delighted to have John at Prisma as we continue to add resources in response to our growing business," says Girish Reddy, founder and managing partner of Prisma.

Stimpson joins Prisma from UBP Asset Management, a fund of hedge funds, where he did marketing to public sector pension plans and other institutions in the US. Prior to UBP he was a senior salesperson in the absolute return strategies group at Deutsche Bank marketing fund of funds and single manager hedge funds to various institutional investors and consultants. Previously he was vice president of sales and client service for The Torrey Funds, a long/short equity fund of hedge funds.

Stimpson has more than ten years of experience working in state government and advising governments on finance and investment issues. From 2002 to 2004, he was in the public finance group of UBS Financial Services where he provided investment banking services to state, city and municipal governments in the US. During 1994 and 1999, he served as a senior aide to Massachusetts Governors William Weld and Paul Cellucci. He began his career as a research analyst covering state budget issues in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Prisma Capital Partners is an alternative investment manager with approximately USD3.5bn of assets under management, focused on providing multi-manager hedge fund solutions to institutions worldwide.
