Dutch hedge funds gain 0.41 per cent in July

Dutch hedge funds gained an average 0.41 per cent in July, as measured by the Finles/IEX Dutch hedge fund index.

Dutch hedge funds gained an average 0.41 per cent in July, as measured by the Finles/IEX Dutch hedge fund index.

The index rose 9.03 per cent in the first seven months of 2009, outperforming the HFRX Global hedge fund index which was up 7.16 per cent.

Both quant funds and macro funds underperformed.

The five best performing funds in July were: Antaurus Europe Fund; European Opportunities Fund; Kempen Absolute Return Credit Fund; Pelargos Asia Fund; and Insinger de Beaufort Real Estate Fund.

The five best performing funds YTD are: Antaurus Europe Fund (+34 per cent); HIQ Invest Market Neutral Fund (+27 per cent); Farringdon Alpha One (+23 per cent); Aster-X Panorama Fund (+22 per cent); and EV smaller companies fund (+22 per cent).

As of 1 September 2009, two new funds will be added to the index: Robeco All Weather Global Equities Fund, managed by Michael Strating; and World View Global Macro Fund, managed by Frits Fiene.
