Northern Trust has appointed David Lester as head of the institutional sales effort for asset management at NT Global Advisors, Canada.

Lester comes to Northern Trust from SEI Investments and his primary focus will be on manager-of-managers investment products, including total investment management and administrative outsourcing solutions, for Canadian pension plans, charitable organisations, and other institutions.

In addition, Lester will have responsibility for marketing Northern Trust's investment capabilities, including global index and alternative investment products.

"David is an experienced professional with a lot of credibility in the Canadian marketplace, and we are thrilled to have him lead the business development efforts for our multi-manager investment solutions," says Robert Baillie, president and chief executive officer of NT Global Advisors, Canada. "As more institutions look at options for managing risks and costs amid volatile markets, David's expertise in building customized, comprehensive investment outsourcing solutions will be valuable to both Northern Trust and our clients."

Lester has more than 14 years of investment experience, most recently as director of national accounts for SEI Canada. During his career, Lester has authored a range of articles on pension-related topics in addition to speaking at industry conferences. Lester is a past chair of the Ontario Regional Council of the Canadian Pension Benefits Institute, and is a member of the Toronto CFA Society.
