A Leg To Stand On, a New York based charity which helps disabled children in developing countries by providing corrective surgeries and prosthetic limbs, is to hold its sixth annual Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest fundraiser on 8 October at B.B. King Blues Club in Manhattan.

As in years past performances consist of bands whose members are from the hedge fund and financial services industry.

“We are really grateful to everyone who has worked hard for this year’s event, everyone involved has put in a tremendous effort with everything from bringing in sponsorships to organising the bands,” says Ashwan Khanna, managing partner with alternatives marketing company Patron Advisors in London.

Khanna is co-chair of this year's event, along with C. Mead Welles, who co-founded Altso in 2002.

The six bands performing in B.B. King's Music Room are: The Subscribers, JAM Partners, The Cause, Crossing Streams, The Jen Justice Band and Behind Closed Doors. Acoustic performances will run throughout the night in B.B. King’s Lucille’s Grill.

“We have been supporters of Altso’s Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest since the beginning,” says Timothy Wheeler, The Subscribers’ lead singer and a bankruptcy attorney with the law firm Lowenstein Sandler PC in New York. “In that time it has gone from a small event, bringing in maybe a hundred people, to one of the biggest nights out on the hedge fund calendar.”

The money raised at last year’s Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest helped Altso expand its efforts and clinics in India, Bangladesh, Haiti, Nepal, Nigeria, Colombia, and Ecuador. Revenue raised this year will go toward fulfilling Altso’s goal of helping level the playing field for 1,000 more children in 2010, bringing their total of children helped to nearly 6,000 in under eight years.

From 8 October through 30 November merchandise sponsor Rymax Marketing Services is offering all Altso Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest sponsors and attendees a variety of consumer products at a wholesale price. Items offered will be from brands including Ferragamo, Tumi, Baccarat, Faber-Castell, Samsung and other luxury brands, with a portion of all sales donated to Altso.
