Hedge funds ‘exhibiting concern about Eurozone markets’

The concerns about Eurozone markets are being reflected in the actions of hedge funds and investors, an expert has asserted.

The concerns about Eurozone markets are being reflected in the actions of hedge funds and investors, an expert has asserted.

Barclays Wealth has reported that the markets have reflected concern about the fiscal difficulties of countries such as Greece, but that this has also created opportunities.

Henk Potts, equity strategist at the organisation, claimed that recent sell-offs in the equity markets have been driven by fears over the country’s debt and its knock-on effects for the rest of EU.

“Investors have also been troubled by the seeming lack of communication between policymakers at a global level and the ongoing failure of some countries (such as the UK) to outline any firm plans,” he stated.

Mr Potts said that the key issue is to maintain a diversified portfolio which matches overall risk levels, rather than selling due to market concerns.

Earlier this month, City Index market analyst Nick Serff claimed that European hedge funds have remained jittery, with Greek indexes among those exhibiting caution.
