Andy Lando has returned to Merlin Securities, a mid-tier prime brokerage services provider, as a senior partner.

Lando, who was one of the firm’s founders in 2004, will head Merlin’s newly formed securities lending group.

“We are delighted to welcome Andy back to Merlin to launch an important new offering for our clients,” says Stephan Vermut, founder and managing partner of Merlin Securities. “In this role, Andy and his team will centralise all securities lending activities with Merlin’s clearing brokers and give guidance to clients on both supply and rates. This consultative effort will help clients optimise their portfolios and continue to focus on generating returns for their limited partners.”

Lando and his team will be based in Merlin’s New York office.

Lando was formerly a managing director and global head of securities lending for Banc of America Securities, before becoming one of the five founding members of Merlin Securities in 2004.

Prior to Banc of America Securities, he was vice president and head of the domestic equity securities lending desk at Paine Webber.

Lando began his career with Shearson Lehman Hutton as a securities lending trader.
