Ticonderoga Securities expands sales and trading team

Related Topics

Ticonderoga Securities, an institutional broker dealer, has expanded its sales and trading team with the addition of Kevin Backus, formerly of SJ Levinson & Sons.

Backus will work closely with the firm’s team of research analysts to deliver clients differentiated research.

“Kevin brings an unparalleled combination of buy-side and sell-side experience to the Sales & Trading team,” says Ticonderoga chief executive and co-founder Shawn McLoughlin (pictured). “His plans to grow this team align well with Ticonderoga’s ongoing expansion effort.”

The sales and trading team earlier this month added Lawrence Darrow, Robert P. Flaherty and Barak Shibles, all formerly of Pali Capital.

“Ticonderoga’s differentiated research model appealed to me as an opportunity to provide my clients with access to one of the best research products on Wall Street,” says Backus. “I look forward to working with the Ticonderoga team to grow the business over the coming years.”

Backus joins Ticonderoga after two years at SJ Levinson & Sons, where he served as managing director and then as partner. Prior to that, Backus was head of trading at Balyasny Asset Management and also served as co-head trader at Sigma Capital Management, a New York-based division of SAC, where he focused on financials and healthcare.
