S&P Valuation and Risk Strategies, a business unit within Standard & Poor’s, has been selected to provide independent valuations for a range of fixed income securities to GlobeOp Financial Services, a provider of middle and back office administration and risk reporting services to hedge funds and asset management firms.

"S&P’s independent valuations, coupled with our ability to add the assumptions we use to derive them, offers GlobeOp’s hedge fund and institutional clients an added level of transparency and understanding," says Frank Ciccotto, senior vice president, S&P Valuation & Risk Strategies.

"Investors are increasingly demanding independent testing of asset prices," adds Jon Anderson (pictured), global head of valuation and OTC derivatives at GlobeOp. "Hedge funds, institutional investors and auditors recognize the value of working with a comprehensive, centralised valuation services provider like GlobeOp to meet those requirements. We work closely with clients to independently apply their valuation policy through controlled processes, providing the consistency and transparency that both portfolio managers and investors require. Our centralized valuation process – supported by what we believe is the most extensive platform of independently sourced pricing specialists in the industry – is enhanced by working with pricing experts like S&P Valuation and Risk Strategies."

The securities evaluations unit within S&P Valuation and Risk Strategies will provide market-driven, independent valuations for fixed income, structured finance securities, and syndicated bank loans to GlobeOp for rapid distribution over its platform to hedge funds and asset management firms – including banks, insurance companies, mutual & pension funds and proprietary traders.
