China-focused hedge fund created by ex-SSGA manager
Thu, 22/07/2010 - 23:03
Ex-SSGA fund manager, Wu Huimin, has developed a China-focused hedge fund with the help of former Citigroup head of China research, Xue Lan, and Indus Capital Global Advisors analyst, Sun Lu. Trading under the name Trivest Advisors Ltd, the fund has already raised USD 93 million, despite China’s nascent and largely undeveloped hedge fund industry. The fund will adopt an equity L/S strategy and pick Chinese securities predominantly listed on international stock exchanges, with an aim to return 15 to 20 percent annually after fees. Wu was unavailable for comment, but those familiar with the team believe their Asia experience will give investors sufficient confidence as they look to attract further capital.
