Hong Kong-based Diamond Dragon Advisors Ltd, Asia’s first independent general partner advisory and fund placement firm established by industry veteran Ed Greene, has plans to “fill a real void” in the region. DDA Ltd currently helps raise global institutional capital for a basket of alternative asset managers, in addition to its GP advisory role. And its Chairman, Greene, sees the ever-growing number of Asian and Western GPs setting up shop in Asia as a crucial factor in furthering the firm’s fortunes. “As the Asia alternative eco-system has grown, the need for an Asia-dedicated professional capital raising firm became evident,” commented Greene in the firm’s press release, adding that DDA Ltd will be “at the vortex of institutional capital flows into alternative assets in Asia.” Fronting up the Hong Kong operations is CEO and Senior MD, Dennis Montecillo. Commenting on his new role, Montecillo told Hedgeweek via email: “I am very excited about the prospect of bringing my 20+ years in investment banking into this role; I see many similarities in the value-added processes between investment banking and fundraising for GPs.
