Citi Private Bank recruits hedge fund expert to head up Managed Investments, Asia

Citi Private Bank has hired hedge fund expert, Roger Bacon as head of Managed Investments (MI) and advisory for Asia; a newly created role. Bacon, who has left his London position as head of hedge fund business for Geneva-headquartered Union Bancaire Privee, is based in Hong Kong where he reports to Citi Private Bank’s APAC Head of Investments, Debashish Dutta Gupta (pictured). Bacon is responsible for MI product sales, advisory sales, tailored portfolio origination and regional MI product administration in the region, reports AsianInvestor. There is also a research component to the role, covering traditional and alternative fund spheres. This latest Asia-based key hire underscores the US bank’s commitment to developing its MI products and sales in APAC as it looks to add ballast to its reputation in research, due diligence and fund advisory; key themes in today’s regulatory climate. Just last month, Jennifer Tay was appointed head of managed investment product sales for the region. Commenting on this Asia-focused directive, Gupta was quoted as saying: “Managed investment activities in Asia are central to the build-out of our investments platform globally.”
