GoldenTree Asset Management, an investment firm that manages alternative and traditional asset strategies for sophisticated institutional and high net-worth investors, has hired Bob Sherman as a partner.

Sherman will work closely with partners Frank Jordan and Tom Humphrey in the continued expansion of GoldenTree’s institutional franchise.

“Bob Sherman’s track record of building successful asset management businesses, and his experience in fixed income credit markets, presented a great opportunity for GoldenTree to further develop the quality of our franchise,” says Humphrey. “Bob’s credibility with consultants and institutional investors strengthens our ability to provide credit investment solutions for our clients. Frank and I are delighted to have Bob join the firm, and excited to work together.”

Sherman joins GoldenTree following 14 years at Seix Investment Advisors, a USD25bn fixed income manager, where he rose to the position of chief executive. Prior to his promotion to chief executive, Sherman held a number of senior level positions at Seix, including director of marketing and client service, chief operating officer, and was a member of the firm’s executive committee.

Previously, Sherman was senior vice president and director of marketing and client service at Daiwa International Capital Management, with responsibility for North American business activities. Prior to that, he was director of marketing at Pine Tree Capital and a vice president of institutional marketing at Abel/Noser.

“I have admired GoldenTree as a market leader in credit markets investing for many years,” says Sherman. “They have everything clients want from an asset manager; superior investment talent, a disciplined investment approach, and alignment with investors as an employee owned company. I am thrilled to be a member of the team and look forward to helping the firm grow its institutional business.”
