The Swiss banking group Syz has launched Syz Fund Research, a fund analysis and long only manager selection service.
Syz has decided to transform the manager selection unit of its Oyster Funds division into a fully-fledged department.
In addition to selecting and monitoring the external managers of its Oyster Funds family, the department will recommend third-party funds to clients of the private bank and to independent asset managers.
Syz Fund Research will also be in charge of identifying new investment themes and emerging talent for the creation of new sub-funds and for conducting strategic monitoring of the market.
Syz Fund Research will be headed by Alan Mudie, who was previously chief executive of the Oyster Funds division and who will be replaced in this position by Xavier Guillon. Before joining Syz, Mudie managed the operation in Switzerland of FundQuest, the external funds selection and multi-management division of the BNP Paribas Group.
