Collas Day makes three senior appointments

Guernsey law firm Collas Day has seen in the New Year with three senior appointments across the firm.

Paul Wilkes, a former Senior Associate within the Commercial department who joined the firm in 2007 from another law firm in Guernsey, having previously worked at Mallesons Stephen Jacques in Australia, has been appointed as a Group Partner from the start of January. The focus of his practice is investment funds and banking. He regularly speaks on company law and regulatory matters locally and in London.

In the Property Department, Advocate Paul Nettleship, who has been with Collas Day since 2002 after an initial career in banking, has been promoted to Senior Associate. He specialises in residential property, including landlord and tenant, and disputes over land and also writes regularly for various property publications. Nettleship is also a member of the Guernsey International Legal Association and the Young Business Group.

Joanne Seal, who was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003, has been promoted to Senior Associate within the Private Client department where she heads up the Wills and Estates team. She was recently included in Private Client Practitioner magazine’s prestigious Top 35 Under 35 lawyers and was the only female lawyer in Guernsey to appear in the publication’s annual ranking.

Paul Wilkes said, "I am delighted to become a Group Partner. I joined Collas Day because of the culture and ambition of the firm, and have always been proud to be a part of the team. My promotion gives me a great sense of personal achievement; I know that 2011 is going to be a fantastic year for the firm and I’m looking forward to being part of the wider senior team as we look to grow the Collas Day and, after the merger, Collas Crill brand."

"It has been a great year for Collas Day and Paul Wilkes, Paul Nettleship and Joanne Seal have all contributed greatly to the firm’s success, so I am delighted that we start the New Year with this brilliant news," says senior partner Chris Bound (pictured). "All have continually demonstrated dedication to clients and the firm, and all have the skills and qualities required to take their senior positions forward in 2011. These promotions demonstrate our commitment to an added value service to our clients and to career progression for our lawyers."
