K&L Gates appoints Cornish as financial services partner

Related Topics

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Martin Cornish as a partner in the financial services practice of the firm’s London office. Cornish joins K&L Gates from Katten Muchin Rosenman Cornish LLP, where he served as managing partner.

A vastly experienced investment management lawyer with a focus in the international financial services area, Cornish advises hedge funds, commodities and derivatives brokers and dealers, banks, and investment banks and managers on a variety of matters involving funds, financial services regulation, and derivatives. Previously, he was head of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Landwell financial services network of law firms, European legal director to a major United States investment bank, principal of independent financial services firm M.W. Cornish & Co., and a partner at Simmons & Simmons LLP.

“There are few better known names than Martin Cornish’s in the London hedge fund community,” says Tony Griffiths (pictured), Administrative Partner of K&L Gates’ London office. “Adding Martin’s market credibility and years of experience to our global investment management practice is a significant step in the continued development of that international practice.”

Cornish says: “I am looking forward to helping K&L Gates expand its London investment management and general financial services practice. K&L Gates has a leading U.S. funds practice and strong capabilities in Asia as well as Europe, which is one of the things that attracted me to the firm.”

Cornish is the third new partner to join K&L Gates’ London office in recent weeks, with the firm having announced the addition of both corporate partner Christopher Germain and energy partner Mathew Kidwell in January.
