In a clear move that signals their intentions of increasing market share in Asia, New York-headquartered hedge fund Pinebridge Investments has announced the appointment of Arthur Lau to head up its Asia ex-Japan Fixed Income business. Based in Hong Kong, Lau will serve as a member of Pinebridge’s Emerging Markets and International Fixed Income Team and provide strategic insight on Asia’s fixed income markets. A team of eight staff will be under Lau, whose remit will be to focus on managing local fixed income strategies for client portfolios including pension funds and cash unit trusts. He joins from JP Morgan Asset Management where he was Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Asian Credits and brings over 20 years’ industry experience in Asian fixed income to the table. On making the decision, Lau said that he was drawn by the opportunity to be a part of the firm’s compelling growth story in Asia. “PineBridge is highly-regarded for its fixed income expertise, particularly in emerging markets and growth regions, and I look forward to working with this team of professionals who are respected by clients and competitors alike,” confirmed Lau. PineBridge’s Global Head of Listed Equity and Fixed Income, Hans K Danielsson (pictured) said that PineBridge had built a successful global fixed income platform around the world and that Lau’s expertise in Hong Kong “will enhance our fixed income capabilities throughout Asia”. “We welcome him to the firm,” added Danielsson.
