Sean Capstick is to assume added responsibility for EMEA Equity Research Sales at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML). In addition, Charlotte Burkeman is joining the company as managing director and co-head of EMEA Prime Brokerage alongside Capstick. Burkeman is expected to join in late June.

Both Burkeman and Capstick will report to John Addis, head of EMEA Global Markets Financing and Futures, and together they will be responsible for further developing BAML’s Global Markets prime brokerage offering in the region. Mike Ward, head of EMEA equity sales, will be announcing his broader EMEA Equity Sales management team shortly. Capstick, in his capacity as head of EMEA Equity Research Sales, will form part of this management team and report to Ward.

Capstick joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in August 2010 from Deutsche Bank, where he was co-head of European Global Prime Finance Sales and global head of the Hedge Fund Capital Group. Prior to this, he held senior leadership positions across the Sales functions of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs in New York and London. Capstick began his career in the Research Sales department at Goldman Sachs.

Burkeman joins the company from UBS where she was head of EMEA Prime Brokerage and co-head of EMEA Prime Services. Before returning to London to take up a position on the UBS European Equities Management Committee, in parallel with her most recent role, Burkeman was based in New York as co-head of US Prime Brokerage Sales and global head of Capital Introductions for UBS. She began her career at Goldman Sachs as part of the European Capital Introduction team.

"With more than 15 years experience of working across Equity and Prime Brokerage Sales desks, Sean brings a wealth of experience to this new part of his role. Our Equity Sales franchise is a market leader and Sean’s appointment will further add to our ability to serve our diverse client base most effectively," says Ward.

"Charlotte’s high calibre experience and expertise within the prime brokerage arena make her a tremendously valuable addition to our regional prime brokerage team. We have made important progress in growing our EMEA prime brokerage business. Alongside Sean, Charlotte will play a critical role in setting and executing our strategy and ultimately driving our success," said Addis.
